01. Overview
WordVane is a word-puzzle game. This policy explains, plainly, what data the app collects, why, and what choices you have. We built WordVane without requiring an account, email address, or real name — most of what makes the game work stays on your device.
02. Data we collect
WordVane uses a small number of third-party services to power the leaderboard and rewarded ads. Here is exactly what each one collects:

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information beyond what's listed above.
03. Data that stays on your device
Your level progress, found words, hint/lightning token balances, sound and theme preferences, and cached word definitions are stored locally on your device only. None of this leaves your phone or is sent to us.
04. Advertising
WordVane shows optional rewarded video ads, served by Google AdMob, that grant in-game hints when watched to completion. Ads are entirely opt-in — you choose when to watch one, and the game is fully playable without ever watching an ad. Google's own privacy practices for AdMob govern the ad-serving process itself; you can review them at policies.google.com/privacy and manage your ad personalization settings from your device's system settings.
05. How data is shared
We do not sell your data. Data is shared only with the service providers named above (Google Firebase and Google AdMob), strictly to operate the leaderboard and ad features they power. Your leaderboard nickname and score are visible to other players by design — that's how a leaderboard works — but nothing else about you is shown.
06. Data retention & deletion
Your leaderboard entry is kept for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling the app doesn't automatically delete your leaderboard entry from our records, since the anonymous ID it's tied to can't be reliably linked back to you afterward. If you'd like your nickname and score removed, email us (see below) with the nickname you played under, and we'll delete it.
07. Children's privacy
WordVane is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
08. Security
Data sent to our leaderboard is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) via Google Firebase's infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we rely on Firebase's industry-standard protections rather than running our own servers.
09. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of WordVane after a change means you accept the updated policy.
